Complicated to be a student, fresh graduate or job seeker in a health crisis....

This was the case for Antoine, 13 years ago, in 2008, in the middle of the financial crisis.

This is a rather particular period which echoes the one we are currently experiencing, which is certainly different in terms of cause, but which also impacts on access to employment.

Antoine is an example of those generations, who graduated at the wrong time, but whose spirit and panache enabled them to overcome the difficulties of the job market.

Antoine Vanwynsberghe is 36 years old, lives in Wasquehal (near Lille), is married to a wonderful woman and has 3 children. To quote him: "it's lively, my wife is delighted, she's the queen of the family!

In this episode, Antoine told us about his first internship at Auchan Retail in his third year, which confirmed his direction, his curiosity that allowed him to expand his scope of action at Pimkie and the impact of Laure and Claire, his successive managers at the time, who helped him gain professional maturity.

Antoine also spoke about the advice he received from his CFO, who taught him not to burn his wings by trying to go too fast, how to stand back when being pushed around and challenged for his own good, and the qualities and mistakes he should not make to get the job he wants.

He also explained his job and told us about the daily life of a lawyer confined to the food retail sector.

Enjoy your listening! 😊

If you had to give one piece of advice to new generations of lawyers who want to progress in their careers, what would it be?

"Stability. In law, if you want to be good, if you want to be recognised, you don't stay in a company for a year or two and change companies every 30 seconds. Law is a longer process, to see the effects of your efforts you have to wait a little while. Stability, patience and humility. And above all, rigour, which is essential for our professions.
