They will be in Strasbourg on 20 and 21 June, in Toulouse on 1 and 2 July and in Paris on 15 and 16 October... This summer, the Legal Tech Lawyers will host a new kind of hackathons: the Legal Hackathons. By bringing together law students, computer science students, developers, researchers, lawyers, legal and justice professionals and entrepreneurs, these events will be an opportunity to put in place reflections and solutions at the intersection of technology and law.

What do these three events have in common? A concrete alliance of tech and law. During each Legal Hackathon, participants have between 24 and 48 hours to develop applications that respond to legal problems identified beforehand. At their disposal, open data and the technological base made available by the partners.

The organization of the Legal Hackathons is part of two of the missions of the Legal Tech Lawyer network led by Seraphin.legal: to train the lawyers of tomorrow - augmented by technology - and to reinforce the positions of Legal Tech, particularly in the role it plays in facilitating access to law.

ERAGE Legal Hackathon - Where student lawyers discover themselves as start-up entrepreneurs

???? On 20 and 21 June 2019, the École Régionale des Avocats du Grand Est (ERAGE) will host the final of the Legal Hackathon, which has seen the 109 student lawyers work, since January, on their legal start-up projects: business model, business plan, graphic charter, communication strategy or even website design... the students of the Strasbourg school have been accompanied by the Legal Tech Lawyers and their partners at each stage of the project, from ideation to conceptualisation and development.
⚙️ The projects developed respond to the problems that students have been confronted with during their past professional experience: organisation of the legal profession, access to legal information, relations with clients and with other actors in the legal world...
???? They will be joined in the final by computer science students - from Epitech in particular - and by lawyers and members of the judiciary - as mentors and beta testers - to produce a first version of their product.
HackaTAL - Where Legal Tech and automated language processing serve access to law
???? On 1 and 2 July 2019, the fourth edition of HackaTAL - hackathon in automatic language processing - will be held in the framework of the TALN (Traitement Automatique des Langues Naturelles) 2019 conference, which takes place at the beginning of July in Toulouse, within the Plate-Forme Intelligence Artificielle 2019.
⚙️ On the agenda, in particular, the design of chatbots for the legal field, based on the observation that the emergence of Legal Tech has not yet really allowed to respond to strengthen the French people's access to law and justice; and that it is therefore time to use technology and NLP to provide a virtual legal assistant for the French people's daily rights.
????Seraphin.legal is a partner of HackaTAL 2019 and is mobilising its knowledge and technologies to design chatbots intended to provide legal information, in order to strengthen French people's access to law and justice. Participants in the hackathon will be able to create a chatbot on the themes of data law and intellectual property. This challenge will be followed by the Legal Hackathon organised by the ADIJ in September 2019 to create a code of digital activities.
ADIJ Hackathon - Where a Digital Activity Code is born
???? On 17 and 18 October 2019, theAssociation pour le Développement de l'Informatique Juridique (ADIJ) is organising a Legal Hackathon aimed at creating a Code of digital activities, which will be a base that "will allow easy, accessible consultation, and will tend to bring the simple user, the consumer, the creator of digital, closer to the Law that exists in the digital universe, or even to reveal new digital devices, specific to certain activities".
⚙️ The objective is to create, in a collaborative way, the French platform for consulting legal texts related to digital activities, with a database gathering the major texts, a reliable search engine, an API to give access to the data and a Legal Bot to promote access to digital law.
???? The Legal Hackathon will be an opportunity for ADIJ members - actors of the legal world, professors, researchers, representatives of public authorities and publishers - to gather students, entrepreneurs and developers around the targeted challenge.
